New Wełnowiec Through the Eyes of Students – Meeting with ASP in Katowice

At Capital Park, we believe that the best projects are created when they are co-designed with the people who will later use these spaces. As part of the public consultations for New Wełnowiec, we invited students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice – individuals who look at the city through an artistic, social, and visual lens.

The meeting took place on November 18th in the design faculty spaces of ASP, and was organized by the R37 Student Scientific Circle, led by Zofia Szczygieł.Tomasz Napieralski, Partner at JEMS Architekci, shared the vision and development directions for New Wełnowiec, and the rest of the meeting quickly turned into a true creative brainstorming session.

The students impressed us with the diversity of their perspectives, freedom of thought, and the sheer number of proposed solutions aimed at making the city more friendly, open, and full of life. It was a discussion that reminded us how important the perspective of young people is in design – free from conventions and full of energy to explore new qualities.

Our conversations don’t end here. In the next stages, initial proposals will be developed so that the most interesting ideas can serve as inspiration for the future directions of New Wełnowiec.

We are grateful for the openness, energy, and collaborative atmosphere that made this meeting more than a consultation.
